Its first issue is dedicated to the question of audiences. Many questions will pass through the scrolling pages. Who exactly is the contemporary art audience (historically, conceptually, statistically, etc.)? What does it mean for an institution to create its audience or, to make the question more interesting, how do audiences create institutions and influence programming and the scene itself? What choices does an audience have while being entangled by the artistic realm, capital, curatorial frameworks, state, etc. into this gallery-museum-capital-state-<wbr \/>complex of contemporary art? Who are we, the contemporary art audiences in the great new world who not only declare \u201cthe end of politics\u201d is \u201cafter the nature\u201d (referring to the books \u201cAfter Nature: A Politics for the Anthropocene\u201d by Jedediah Purdy or \u201cThinking like a Mall. Environmental Philosophy after the End of Nature\u201d by Steven Vogel), announce that \u201cwe have never been modern\u201d (Bruno Latour), \u201cwe have never been human\u201d (Donna Haraway) or \u201cwe have never been only human\u201d (Michel Foucault), inhuman, posthuman (Rosi Braidotti)?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">launch<\/span>, the reading night \u201cEverybody Reads Audiences\u201d with Jaakko Pallasvuo took place on\u00a0Tuesday, March 20th.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jaakko Pallasvuo<\/span> (b. 19XX, lives in Helsinki) is an artist. Pallasvuo makes videos, installations, comics, etc. exploring the anxieties of being alive now, and the prospect of a number of possible futures. In recent years his work has been presented at the New York Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, TBA21 and Jupiter Woods, among others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With contributions by Pedro Barateiro, Santa France, Gints Gabr\u0101ns, Katerina Gregos, Kaspars Gro\u0161evs, Katr\u012bna Neiburga, Jaakko Pallasvuo, Monika Pormale, Viktor Timofeev, Marta Trektere, Beti \u017derovc, Inga L\u0101ce and others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Download Kim_Docs1.pdf &nbsp; \u201cKim\u00a0Docs\u201d is a digital quarterly magazine.
