{"id":2094,"date":"2018-04-15T19:10:14","date_gmt":"2018-04-15T16:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.kim.lv\/?p=2094"},"modified":"2018-05-01T15:47:39","modified_gmt":"2018-05-01T12:47:39","slug":"master-feel-today-presence-purvitis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kim.lv\/en\/master-feel-today-presence-purvitis\/","title":{"rendered":"How would a master feel today\/ The presence of Purv\u012btis"},"content":{"rendered":"The Case in the Cafe was a series of events initiated by <em>kim?<\/em> Contemporary Art Centre in order to investigate the connection of abstract ideas by penetrating some specific spots (authors, works, events) of art in 20th and 21st century Latvia and beyond, which in the framework of this investigation process and still being left without the presence of the \u201cbig\u201d theories works for a further construction of informative perception.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough art we learn to look at nature and life, and vice versa \u2013 through rational observation of nature and life we once again come to true High Art\u201d \u2013 this passage was printed in the newspaper \u201cR\u012bgas Av\u012bze\u201d at the start of 1904 triggered by impressions from the Vilhelms Purv\u012btis (1872\u20131945) personal exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The interaction explained in this passage also determines the way his paintings are perceived today. It is exactly this month that we want to repeatedly reflect upon the small and large, the accidental and the consciously canonized or contradictory mythologized signs of Purv\u012btis art and personality in Latvian culture, just when nature is planning to play the typically Purv\u012btis-like \u201cpoem of melting snow and darkening flood waters\u201d (this phrase can be found in the January 1905 edition of the magazine <em>The Studio<\/em>), simultaneously marking the 140th birthday of this landscape artist.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a caf\u00e9 atmosphere and in the presence of this Purv\u012btis painting we will picture how we are joined by Purv\u012btis biographers and interpreters of his artistic values, who no longer can be addressed today: baron Roderich von Engelhardt and Tatjana Ka\u010dalova, J\u0101nis Sili\u0146\u0161, Visvaldis Pe\u0146\u0123erots, O\u013c\u0123erts Saldavs, Hugo V\u012btols and others, including a random swindler and a lady from the beginning of the 20th century, whose identity remains secret, and whose contemplation titled \u201cThe Russian Painter V. Purv\u012btis\u201d published in <em>The Studio<\/em> in 1905 was signed by a certain <em>Mary Illyne<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\/Kristi\u0101na \u0100bele\/<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Case in the Cafe was a series of events initiated by kim?
