This was the second exhibition in the series of exhibitions displaying artworks from the collection of the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art. The artwork from the collection was exhibited in the VKN and RIXC Galleries as well as in the latest addition to <i>Kim?<\/i>\u00a0galleries \u2013 the FK Gallery. The aim of the exhibition is to introduce the wider public to the collection of the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art which has been developed by an international group of experts since 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Works in different media created by different generations of Latvian artists have been chosen for this exhibition: Juris Boiko (1954 \u2013 2002) \u201cSka\u0146as I \u2013 III\u201d (Sounds I \u2013 III, 2001); Juris Boiko \/ Hardijs Ledi\u0146\u0161 (1955 \u2013 2004) \/ NSRD \u201cPavasara tec\u012bla\u201d (The Grindstone of Spring , 1987) and \u201cPavasara sekvences\u201d (The Sequences of Spring, 1988); Anta Pence \/ Dita Pence (*1975) \u201cSt\u012bvenam pa p\u0113d\u0101m\u201d (Uphill to Mexico, 2001); Kri\u0161s Salmanis (*1977) \u201cDu\u0161a\u201d (The Shower, 2007); Egons Spuris (1939 \u2013 1990) \u201cR\u012bgas XIX un XX gs. s\u0101kuma prolet\u0101rie\u0161u rajons. Nr. 1 \u2013 10\u201d (Riga. Working class districts at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. No 1 \u2013 10, 1970 \u2013 1980); Raitis \u0160mits (*1966) \/ Rasa \u0160mite (*1969) \/ M\u0101rti\u0146\u0161 Ratniks (*1975) \u201cRT-32 Akustisk\u0101s telpas laboratorija\u201d (RT-32: Acoustic Space Lab, 2002); Raitis \u0160mits \/ Rasa \u0160mite \/ Linda V\u0113bere (*1985) \/ M\u0101rti\u0146\u0161 Ratniks \u201cSkrundas sign\u0101ls\u201d (Skrunda Signal, 2007 \u2013 2008). The thematic, stylistic and technical variety of the exhibited works will provide the visitors with an opportunity to acquire an insight into the contemporary art scene of Latvia.<\/p>\n<p>As in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kim.lv\/programma\/Izstades\/%E2%80%9CCollection_I%E2%80%9D\/8\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the first exhibition dedicated to the collection<\/a>, \u201cCollection II\u201d offers the visitors the possibility to create their own interpretation of the works as well as to learn more about the idea, story or motivation behind them by watching interviews with some of the artists.<\/p>\n<p>The collection of the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art has been developed since 2005 by an international group of experts. The collection consists of artworks created since the second half of the 20th century until present. In accordance with the long-term collaboration agreement between\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.km.gov.lv\/lv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Ministry of Culture<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ab.lv\/lv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Aizkraukles Bank<\/a>, the Aizkraukles Bank is the first biggest supporter of the collection of the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art. It has pledged to allocate one million Lats to be used for the development of the collection from 2005 until 2015. Up till now, more than 200 artworks have been included in the collection of the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art. 86 of the works have been bought by the Aizkraukles Bank. Other artworks are property of the State and have been included in the Collection of National Museums.
