Who exactly is the contemporary art audience (historically, conceptually, statistically, etc.)? What does it mean for an institution to create its audience or, to make the question more interesting, how do audiences create institutions and influence programming and the scene itself? What choices does an audience have while being entangled by the artistic realm, capital, curatorial frameworks, state, etc. into this gallery-museum-capital-state-<wbr \/>complex of contemporary art? Who are we, the contemporary art audiences in the great new world who not only declare \u201cthe end of politics\u201d is \u201cafter the nature\u201d (referring to the books \u201cAfter Nature: A Politics for the Anthropocene\u201d by Jedediah Purdy or \u201cThinking like a Mall.
