Kim? With Rupert Are Announcing an Open Call

Kim? Contemporary Art Centre and Rupert are announcing an open call for artists and curators to apply for the Rupert residency programme in July 2020!

Rupert offers the participation for one Latvia-based artist or curator (more information below). We are encouraging to choose slow transport methods, such as bus or car. The
chosen artist/curator will have to cover travel and living expenses by themselves. Kim? and Rupert would like to use the current situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to foster the cooperation between the art scenes of the Baltics and strengthen the contacts inside the region.

Located in the picturesque area of Valakampiai in Vilnius and only a short distance from the city’s flourishing cultural center, Rupert is set by the river Neris and a small river beach,
surrounded by peaceful fields and a forest. The three residency studios are located in a recently constructed building called Pakrantė, designed by award-winning Lithuanian
architect, Audrius Ambrasas. Pakrantė was founded as an arts incubator and houses a number of creative industries. Each resident is provided with a studio space and mezzanine
(approximately 52 sq m.) to be used as a production and research space during the residency. The studio is fully furnished and equipped with WiFi. The building also houses a
reading room, conference room and a kitchen, all of which are open for residents’ use.

Rupert supports the resident with:
– studio/living space
– utilities
– curatorial support
– provides administrative support and facilitates access to required contacts, tools,
materials and information for research and production

There is a possibility to have a representation at the end of residency period but it is not obligatory. This year Rupert works with a theme of Interdependence and care, so the applicant’s works can but doesn’t have to be connected to these topics.
