Thursday,  December 7 from 18.00 to 21.00 Kim? Contemporary Art Centre invites you to the opening of the Black Market ’23 exhibition-auction. The exhibition will be on view for only four days at Kim?’s future new address, Hanzas Street 22, Riga, and online at www.kimblackmarket.com.

The Black Market exhibition-auction campaign, organized annually by Kim?, continues the tradition of democratizing art sales activities and promoting support for artists and art institutions. Borrowing its name from the 1990s post-Soviet reality with clandestine markets all around the Baltics, this improvised art fair booth embraces the underdog status of the Riga art market scene with an attempt to overcome the curse of never being legal or financially viable.

At this event, visitors will not only be able to view but also purchase artworks from a selection of works by specially chosen artists, 50% of the value goes to the artist and 50% to Kim? for development. This year, the Black Market is taking place at Kim?’s future new address, Hanzas Street 22, with a major public debut in the summer of 2024, when Kim? will celebrate its 15th anniversary.
