During Programme No. 1, 16 May until 7 June, 2009 exhibition “Spin” by Latvian artist Maija Kurševa (1981) at the Kim? / VKN Gallery showcasing 63 drawings and a video.
“Trying to diddle the left hand forefinger, the right hand stretched along the back. The muscles tightened, the legs entangled. The braid almost got entangled as well. The shadow came closer. Then it attacked with everything it fell on. I like to whirl until I feel giddy. ‘It’s neither good nor bad, it’s normal,’ the doctor said. The dowser said nothing he just nodded and wiped his bloody hands on his trousers.”
Maija Kurševa has studied visual communication at the Art Academy of Latvia and the University of Arts Berlin (Universität der Kunst Berlin). The artist has been participating in exhibitions since 2004, and her works have been exhibited in the Baltic States, Belgium, France, Italy, Russia, Poland, Hungary and Germany.
