SPLINTERED REALITIES
RIXC Art Science Festival exhibition

August 26 – October 16, 2022
Opening: August 25 6PM
Kim? Contemporary Art Centre, Sporta 2 quarter

Splintered Realities is the title of this year’s RIXC Art and Science Festival and exhibition, which intends to play at the “splinters” of our contemporary condition, affected by war, post pandemics, media ubiquity and social division. The exhibition features artworks by international artists who explore transformative potential of art and extended reality, and ground their ‘realism’ position in the perspective of ‘naturecultures’ – in the spirit of Guattari’s ecosophy, Latour’s ‘terrestrial coexistence’, and Haraway’s ‘arts of living on a damaged planet’.

The exhibition opening will take place on August 25 at 6 PM, featuring a guided tour by curator Raitis Smits, as well as the presentation of his newly published book New Media Art. Preservation and Representation (RIXC, 2022, Latvian edition).
