Photogenic presentation

On January 27, 6:30 pm, in Kim? lecture room – “Photogenic Presentation” – discussion on photography and photo institutions in Latvia with Arnis Balčus, editor of the online journal on photography “FK”, Alise Tīfentāle, editor of the magazine “Foto Kvartāls” (2006 – 2010), and representatives of  the Latvian Museum of Photography.

In December 2010 due to lacking financial support, publishing of the printed magazine on Latvian and international photography and visual culture “Foto Kvartāls” was halted for uncertain period of time. However from January 2011 the magazine was relaunched as the online journal – “FK” – by the organization KultKom and photographer Arnis Balčus.

In the beginning of the evening Arnis Balčus will introduce the new journal, it’s goals and planned activities. The audience will be invited to ask questions about “FK” and share their ideas about it as well as the Latvian photography in general.

During the talk other important subjects will be discussed as well. For example, art historian and editor of  the magazine “Foto Kvartāls” (2006 – 2010) will tell about contribution of the magazine in context of the Latvian culture while director of Kim? Contemporary Art Centre Zane Onckule will turn to the future of Kim? / FK gallery, which was created in cooperation with “Foto Kvartāls”. Also specialist of the Latvian Museum of Photography Anda Boluža will participate in the conversation and share her oppinion about photo institutions in Latvia.
