Different cultures: poets’ view on diversity

On 13 September at 15:00 everyone was invited to attend discussion “Different cultures: poets’ view on diversity”. Poets participating in the discussion were telling about their experience of intercultural dialogue. The participants included Sulaiman Masomi (Afghanistan/Germany), Bernardine Evaristo (Nigeria/United Kingdom), Francette Orsoni (France/Corsica), Jamshed Masroor (Pakistan/Norway), Alen Meskovic (Bosnia/Denmark), Skart (Serbia), facilitated by Liāna Langa (Latvia).

Each of the poets participating comes from a different ethnic background than the majority of the population of their home country. Based on readings, authors were telling about their experience of intercultural dialogue. Possibly even not identifying themselves with a particular ethnic group they face the wish of others to do so? The discussion ought to offer new solutions for improving cultural dialogue.

The discussion at Kim? is a part of Poetry Days 2009.
