Kim? Contemporary Art Centre
Kim? OPEN CALL 2026

Until August 5, Kim? Contemporary Art Centre invites emerging artists, collectives, and curators to apply for the annual Kim? Open Call. The winner will have the opportunity to realise an exhibition at the Kim? exhibition space at the beginning of 2027.

Over its seventeen years of activity, Kim? Contemporary Art Centre has maintained a consistent interest in observing and supporting new art phenomena, integrating them into the institution’s programme through dialogue and co-creation. In preparation for next year’s exhibition programme, we are announcing the annual Kim? Open Call — an opportunity for emerging artists, curators, and creative collectives based in Latvia or originating from Latvia to realise an exhibition and an accompanying public programme at Kim? Contemporary Art Centre at the beginning of 2027, (23.01-01.03.2027).

Applications must include:
– a description of the artistic concept in Latvian (up to 1 A4 page), listing participants, plus additional sketches in Word or PDF format
– a portfolio of artistic practice with images of previous works or exhibitions (including CV and short biography)
– a draft budget or budget comments
– applications must be submitted in Latvian

Kim? provides:
– curatorial expertise, involvement, and support during the project development and implementation
– fundraising for the realisation of the idea (up to 3000 EUR)
– a fully equipped exhibition space (60–100 m2)
– an effective press and communications strategy both locally and internationally

Applications should be sent by August 5 to kim@kim.lv with the subject line “Kim? Open Call 2026”. The project author undertakes to secure any necessary additional co-funding. The winner will be announced this year at the beginning of August.

The initiative of the competition was launched in 2016 to identify promising and talented artists and curators early on, providing the best possible conditions and framework for the successful implementation of their creative ideas. Previous Kim? Open Call laureates include artists Anna Malicka, Annemarija Gulbe, Ieva Jakuša and Gundega Strauberga, Karlina Mezecka, Sabīne Šnē, Jānis Krauklis, Toms Harjo and Jānis Dzirnieks, as well as curators Anna Laganovska, Žanete Liekīte and Laura Brokāne.
